Minimal Pollution
     Everyone has seen that puff of smoke when a lawn mower starts.  What you may not know is that puff of white smoke contains nitrous oxide, harmful ozone, and carbon dioxide.  These pollutants build up in the air around your house and find their way into your home.  Multiplied by tens of millions of lawnmowers operated each week nationwide, these emissions account for five to ten percent of the summer air pollution in the United States*.  Five to ten percent is a huge amount of pollution for doing something as simple as maintaining our landscapes.  By switching to electric or human-powered yard tools for your yard maintenance, this source of air pollution can be greatly reduced and even eliminated altogether. 

No Pesticides or Inorganic Fertilizers
     Lakes and other bodies of water downhill from large, chemically treated fields such as golf courses, large subdivisions, and farming operations are often polluted.  This is caused by runoff from rains and irrigation systems picking up and carrying the heavy chemicals applied to these areas and depositing them downhill where they build up over time.  This process occurs on a smaller scale anywhere pesticides and other horticultural chemicals are used.  The overuse of unnatural fertilizers can contribute to harmful algal blooms in large lakes and estuary waters.  Greenscape does not use any pesticides whatsoever.  Any fertilizers we use are 100% natural and kept to a minimum.  We employ traditional fertilization techniques when necessary such as aeration and natural fertilizers to keep your lawn looking its best.
