A nicely maintained and well stocked Garden Pond can be an attractive addition to any garden whether large or small. With a little careful planning and also the right water garden supplies you can produce a pond that is pleasing to the eye and a haven for wildlife.

The plastic shell is ok for a small or starter pond but be cautious as they often can be found in weird and wonderful shapes and you will need to ensure your hole matches this shape well (sometimes easier in theory!). A high quality plastic or butyl liner is much simpler to mould to the form of your pond therefore offers you far more freedom of choice – remember, you should line the hole with sand and a protective material (eg. A thin layer of foam or old carpet) before laying the liner. To calculate the amount liner you’ll need (as a minimum) use the following calculation – 2 x depth + width by 2 x depth + length.
