Gardening Advice – Three Tips For New Gardeners
Gardening is not only an interesting hobby, but it is also something you can start doing to relieve stress, to teach your child to appreciate nature, or perhaps, to start a new career! If you haven’t tried gardening yet, now is just a good time as any. You can read about different plants and flowers, and choose the best ones that will grow in your location. You can also check online sites that give numerous tips on gardening. There are also some forums where people who share the love of the art and science of gardening post several tips on handling plant care.
Perhaps the first thing you should decide on is what kind of plants or flowers you could plant on your garden. Some people would just want to tend flowering plants, because of the different colors and fragrances flowers bring. Others may just decide on vegetables and herbs. Some people may do a combination of vegetables and fruits and start having an orchard, that is if they have the extent of the property needed for such.
Choose the right kind of pesticides for your houseplants. There are various pesticides available in the market, but if you find organic insecticides, they are better to use than chemical ones. Make sure also that your choice of insecticide will not do much damage to your plants.
Whatever you decide to plant on, here are some gardening tips that may get you started:
1. Check the best time of the year to plant your seedlings. For most plants, except tomatoes and peppers, mid-March is the best time of the year to do some plant seeding.
2. If you do not have a lot of time to tend your garden, you may start with low maintenance perennial plants. These are plants of various colors and sizes which usually bloom back during spring. Most orchids, especially the lilies are perennial plants that can easily adorn anyone’s garden.
3. Use the right gardening tools. Keep your stock of digging tools, composting and weeding tools that can help you do your gardening easily. You can check your local handyman store for the right tools and ask for advice for the proper way of using these tools.
Gardening can be a rewarding activity, because of the beauty that your plants and flowers will add to your surroundings. It is also a good way to de-stress and to enjoy the gifts of nature.
