What is the weather like in Dallas in early mid october?

What is the typical weather in October for Dallas, Texas area. I am wanting to visit family and go places in Dallas (Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Six Flags, etc) during Columbus weekend (Oct 8-11). Is it cold or is it still pleasant in Fall? What was the weather like last year? The reason why Im asking is I want to avoid going over the summer because I have heard it gets up to 102 degrees.
